La Petite Bretagne
First Impressions
La Petite Bretagne is less than a 5 minutes walk from Dalston Junction or Dalston Kingsland station. The entrance is quite discreet so you have to keep your eyes peeled or you could easily miss it. The staff are very friendly and greet you upon entry, which is always a nice touch.
Venue & Atmosphere
It’s a very pretty venue, from the entrance it looks like a small basic café but it’s a lot larger than it appears and very nicely put together. The decor is quite chic and modern with a sprinkle of Parisian flair. It’s a great location to meet up with friends for some light but filling bites, or would even be a good spot to grab something to eat or drink while you work. It was a bit nippy outside and so we would have appreciated if the doors had been kept closed rather than open.
Service
As we mentioned the staff were very attentive and informative. The waiter kindly answered our questions about recommendations and requirements to switch ingredients without any complaints or fuss. We can sometimes be quite picky 😂.

Maria’s Thoughts
CARNACOISE
This is the first time I’ve ever had a savoury pancake! I’ve never been drawn to savoury crepes (apart from the crispy duck kind), in my mind crepes are meant to be sweet. Any who, I’m so glad that this was part of the deal! It pushed me to try something new and I have zero regrets – the Carnacoise was de-lici-ous! Feta, spinach, tomato and pesto is a mouth-watering combo. I can imagine this deliciousness on a pizza, bread or even as pasta dish but never imagined it as a pancake dish and yet I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. The ingredients went together perfectly and the pancake added the cherry on top. What would make this dish even better would be a kick of chilli, not for everyone I know but if you can handle the heat you’ll get exactly what I mean. Another bonus is that La Petite Bretagne are not stingy with their portions sizes.
BRETON TREAT
To think there was a time when I didn’t eat apples, I was truly missing out on some yummy goodness. I loved every bit of this dessert, I am here for the sweet and salty combos as well as the hot and cold mixes and this tasted heavenly. As mentioned above this restaurant do not scrimp on their potions sizes. The dessert crepe was the same size as the savoury one.
FRESH JUICE – Orange, strawberries and mint
This was another first for me and definitely not a last! This juice blend was so refreshing! It tasted great and can be considered part of your five a day – what more ey??
Nifesi’s Thoughts
ALSACIENNE
The Alsacienne savoury crepe was a very big deal, this was my first time having crepes, not to talk of sweet or savoury. This crepe was packed full with chicken, cheese and egg. It was a full meal by itself. To be honest, eating this was like stuffing my face with a pizza, these are the exact type of ingredients I would have on a pizza (except the egg obviously). As expected, I struggled to finish it and definitely did not need to eat another crepe. haha 😉 (yet I did) its all about the experience.
RASPBERRY MADNESS
This sweet raspberry crepe was definitely scrumptious, I wiped the plate clean and was clearly overfull by the end. It was a nice contrast in comparison to the chicken one before. Much lighter and easier to take down. I definitely enjoyed it and would order it again, as you can see from the pictures, the presentation was straightforward and simple, which i appreciated.
CRAZY HOT CHOCOLATE
Once again, it’s been years since I’ve had a hot chocolate, it was nice and hot, nothing special that I can rave about, I do tend to find all hot chocolates the same. Unfortunately I usually think they taste too chocolatey (duh 🙈), which also make me not that keen on them. To conclude I’ll stick to my water drinking, I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything.
Final Thoughts
Simply put, we’d go back. The same way we love to treat ourselves to waffles from various dessert places, we can add this to our chit chat spots.
