Blue Jazz Club

First Impressions

We were informed about the Blue Jazz Club by our concierge, who shared that the restaurant which is based on a scenic rooftop and usually hosts a live jazz band, is very popular amongst locals and tourists. After scrolling through a few Google reviews, we decided to try out his recommendation. The Club is on the top floor of the Hotel Saratoga  and upon entry of the hotel, you are directed to a mirrored lift which takes you straight upstairs to the cosy but comfortable restaurant. The restaurant boasts a sky rooftop which offers city views of Mallorca and is particularly gorgeous at night.

Atmosphere

The ambience in this restaurant was so chilled and relaxed yet lively and buzzing. Crazy right? But we enjoyed it! The low lighting and candles gave a calm and sensual appeal whilst the upbeat live band had the place buzzing. Not ideal for an in depth discussion  or intimate conversation as you may just end up shouting at each other.

Service

Staff were very attentive, however, as it was already quite busy when we arrived, there was a slight delay in getting seated and making our order. We were sat directly at the front with an unobstructed view to the band – VIP treatment😝

Maria’s Thoughts

Fish with Sweet Potato Mash and Garlic Sprouts
As you can see from the pics, my meal looked ah-mazing – art on a plate! The chef had definitely taken the time to prepare and present this dish. The fish was juicy but a pinch of more seasoning would have set this meal off just right! The mix of sweet potato, garlic sprouts and fish was an interesting combination. This dish was pleasant but I wasn’t blown away.

Apfel Chass
This drink right here!!!! 10/10. The Apfel Chass is definitely a relative of the pina colada family, it was soo delicicious –  sweet and creamy…perfect!

You know a drink or a meal is good when you don’t want it to end! I savoured every last drop and would definitely order this mocktail again!

Nifesi’s Thoughts

Tortellini of Scallops and Prawns with Chardonnay Sauce (Flavoured with orange and garlic
My food was errmmmm, the best way to describe it was interesting. This was my first time trying tortellini, there was nothing bad about it per-say, it was a very good quantity, beautifully presented, however the taste was somewhat new. For future reference guys, orange and garlic don’t mix. Don’t do it! I repeat, DON’T DO IT! It makes your body feel funny. Basically throughout my main meal my mind and tastebuds were permanently confused. Trying to figure or whether what I was eating was sweet or savoury. To summarise the orange added a zing to the meal that made it new and interesting to my tongue and I’m not sure I like it! The smell alone can make you raise your eyebrows in confusion. As time went on I began to feel a little queasy as the smell stayed longer on the table. It just was not my thing.

Final Thoughts

The Jazz band was great, they created a buzz of positive energy through their music. It was a pleasant way to relax, eat (if your tastebuds agree) and appreciate the the skill/talent of the artists. This definitely encouraged us to look for more places like this to visit back in London.

We would return again for the music and vibe, but not so sure about a full meal, maybe just some appetisers. The orange in Nifesi’s meal definitely left a lasting impression, even writing this we can still remember the odd smell and taste.
