Even though we moaned a little about how tiring our Jump Giants experience was, it has actually opened us up to a whole new world of trampoline fitness. As you know, we’re all about trying new things so after some research we found two trampoline fitness classes that we were keen to check out – Jumping Julia and Boogie Bounce. So without further adieu, jump right in (get it 😝 ) as we share our thoughts below!

Jumping Julia
Our Thoughts
VENUE
To find the venue was a mission! The session took place in a hidden church hall with a discreet entrance and absolutely no lights to guide you up the stairs (come to think of it, this is a bit of a health and safety hazard). As you can probably imagine, on a dark winter evening the venue can easily be missed. We spent about 10 minutes walking around trying to find the entrance, and finally ended up having to call the administrator for help. We were both late so missed any announcements or introductions at the beginning of the class.
INSTRUCTOR
The instructor was friendly enough but very static, we didn’t feel the ENERGY (you know, that exciting VIBE that makes you wanna go hard or go home). It was just all a bit too mellow, with minimal interaction. Now for some people, that may work and as crazy as it sounds it made us realise that we enjoy being shouted at – well in moderation of course. Although the class itself had challenging elements that kept us on our toes, the instructor did very little to engage with us and keep the class motivated. To add to this, the constant buzzing of flies… yes flies🐝 didn’t help! We’re not even talking one or two, more like an infestation of lethargic flies that kept bashing into our heads, legs, arms…and each other. Literally, at no point could you leave your mouth open or you may have a lazy fly pop in.
MUSIC
The music consisted of upbeat pop and commercial dance tracks. Not our usual playlist but worked well for the routines.
EXERCISE ROUTINE
Maria’s Thoughts
I thought the routine was quite intense, I wish I could say I kept up but that would be a lie 😂. I have to admit I took multiple pauses to catch may breath and give my muscles a chance to recuperate, but for the most part I kept going. I’ve never really been drawn to high intensity cardio/aerobics but it was nice to try something different. Despite a reasonably challenging routine, this particular class was not for me.
Nifesi’s Thoughts
It was alright, nothing too strenuous or tasking. Made me eager to compare against Boogie Bounce and see if it was any different. It left no lasting impression and honestly didn’t excite me enough to make me want to do it again (although this might be because I kept getting distracted by the numerous flies in the hall!). I am happy to mention that we did some stretching at the end – no need for cramps and muscle aches from constant jumping.

Boogie Bounce
Our Thoughts
VENUE
Using Google Maps, it was very easy to navigate and find the location. The Sports Centre is located in the centre of a residential neighbourhood with large fields nearby. The centre offers various classes particularly tailored for youths but there are a few classes for adults – Boogie bounce is one of them. The hall is large enough to hold over 25 trampolines with adequate surrounding space. The decor is set up with disco lights and loud music in the dark, which helped set the tone and energy of the workout session.
INSTRUCTOR
Yaaaaaaasssssssssss! Now this is the energy we are talking about! As in, before we even entered the hall, we were already feeling the vibe. From the entrance we could see the disco party lights flashing around the hall, we were able to hear the instructor pumping and cheering on the class. Now this is the type of charisma, va va voom we expect from a fitness class. And oooooh did we get it. Rachel the instructor is very personable, not only is she friendly and welcoming but she’s also funny and provides little tidbits of information to keep the class going. The class before ours overran by 5 mins but it was a good opportunity to see what they got up to. By 8.25 we got started, setting up the trampoline gear, finding your space and introducing the new starters of the class (only us). Most attendees appeared to be regulars and Rachel made the effort to know everyone by name.
MUSIC
As expected the music was primarily commercial pop and dance, but there were a few RnB remixed versions within the playlist.
EXERCISE ROUTINE
Maria’s Thoughts
This class was AMAZING! I really, really enjoyed it! The energy was on point, and Rachel’s enthusiasm was contagious – she literally had me smiling from ear to ear. Even though the routine wasn’t any easier than the routine we did in the Jumping Julia session, I made it through!! In fact, I felt like I could go on, simply because the vibe was right. This shows how crucial the right atmosphere and energy level is when holding a fitness session. It can completely change your perception of the activity. The class was predominately women with a mixture of regulars and newbies. The group was very friendly and welcoming which added to the electric atmosphere. After a great session, I would definitely go again. If you’re into aerobics, trampling or simply looking for a new high intensity class to try add Boogie Bounce to your list.
Nifesi’s Thoughts
The session was similar in structure to Jumping Julia however there were a few extra moves and it truly felt like a completely different experience due to the energy and vibe Rachel brought to the class. You didn’t really have an opportunity to drop out and relax, she was active in checking up on people and you also didn’t really want to stop and miss out on the moves. As a whole, everyone in the class was very friendly and informative.
In comparison I would say this session was just slightly (tiny bit) harder than Jumping Julia because not only did I sweat a lot more but additional moves were added to the routine, to be honest I probably put more effort into partaking and completing all the moves as well due to the passion and energy within the class. Therefore, I would definitely go again and again and again.
