Oooooooooweeeee…so we lost our festival virginity haha. Ok so technically we have been to a festival type event before, which was back in 2013 while visiting Atlanta but this was still our first time attending this style of event in the UK whoop whoop. Now the Wildlife Festival is not on the levels of Glastonbury or Wireless and with only 1 year under its belt (now 2 including this year) it’s still quite new to the festival scene.
From our understanding the Wildlife Festival was curated by English groups Disclosure and Rudimental. Neither of us are die-hard fans of either of these groups and between us we probably only know a handful of tracks but nonetheless after recognising a few of the artists from the Saturday line up we decided we would part with our £65 and give the festival a try.
Before heading to the festival we stopped for a bite to eat at New Club to give us the much needed energy to get into full on festival mode haha. Armed with our sweets and metallic temporary tattoos we were ready to cut some shapes.
Finding parking was pretty straightforward! We decided against parking in the car park provided by Wildlife, as we anticipated long queues when leaving. The parking spot we eventually found on Brighton Road (postcode estimate BN15 8LH) was about 15mins away from the festival and FREE! Cha ching!
Busta Busta ….. aka Busta Rhymes definitely took us down memory lane with his performance. We had a lot of fun jumping around and shouting out the lyrics to some well known tunes. Straight after his performance we stuck around for Skepta who also had the crowd buzzing with his latest grime hits. The crowd went absolutely wild when he hit the stage, chanting his lyrics word for word. There were a couple of moments where we stood still trying to comprehend all that was going on around us lol.
There were a few other artists we would’ve loved to have seen but some were on before we arrived and for others we didn’t get to the stage in time. In hindsight it’s probably best to get a program to know who is performing when and where.
In between the performances we enjoyed a little dance session in one of the bar areas which was a lot fun.
We stuck around to pretty much the end and watched Disclosure perform which we would both agree was very entertaining. The lights, the vibe the songs… It was a perfect way to end the night.
We’re undecided about whether we would attend again but we definitely had a lot of fun. Why not check out the line up next year and see if any of the artists take your fancy.
