The Colour Run Website

Hello beautiful people, if you’ve been following our blog you’ll be aware that we took part in Play Holi in the City by Cinnamon Kitchen. I (Nifesi) decided to take this further by participating in the Colour Run at Wembley Park. I joined up with three friends to complete the 5K run and basically get colourful.

I arrived by 2:00pm and it was already very crowded by Wembley Park. After meeting up with the rest of the group, we put on our face paint, tattoos and headbands and quickly shuffled to the front to join the masses in getting warmed up. As usual, we did the standard exercises of getting all our joints warmed up. It was a fun active dance session which helped get us all ready to go.

Following the queue towards the start line, it was clear that participation and enthusiasm were more important than wining the race. Although I’m sure the eager beavers were right at the front racing ahead, whilst the rest of us casually jogged or walked.

The energy and atmosphere was absolutely amazing as everyone was pumped and excited, with smiling faces and laughter all around. At every mile, there was a different colour gate, where you got slapped, sprayed and showered with coloured powder.

As we walked (YES I walked sometimes) past people, it was inspiring to see everyone with different abilities all participating in this event. Some were on crutches, some in wheelchairs, so many children (actually running) and babies in their prams being pushed by their enthusiastic parents. It was truly a beautiful sight to behold, such a large number of people congregated in one large space to celebrate life in a colourful manner.

I don’t want to give too much away as the photos and videos will show it all, but I will say it was a very enjoyable day and I would definitely do it again. At the end there was a colour festival and we all got to spray our own colour powder sachets given to us as we crossed the finishing line. Check out our highlights video and pics below.

Things to note:

  • You don’t have to be athletic to participate, like I mentioned you can walk it, crawl it, dance it, do whatever you want to do to get through the whole 5KM.
  • The colour powder washes off your clothes very easily. To get it off your face and hair (yes it will get all over your body), just have a good thorough shower and it’ll all be washed away.
  • If you don’t want to look too colourful on the journey home (which I did), bring a change of clothes.
  • There are no storage provisions, best option is a backpack to carry your valuables.
  • Free goodies and water available after completing the colour run at the festival.

To be honest, there are not enough words to truly describe this experience, have a look at the pictures and when (not if) possible take part in the next colour run.
